I’ve been dying (no pun intended) to try a little touch of pastel color, specifically pink, in my hair. But as a forty-something Mom I didn’t want to go too crazy with it. Enter… Rose Gold Temporary Tint Spray from Kristin Ess. Hallelujah! Can you hear the angels rejoicing?!? 😇 THIS was the answer to my prayers. A noncommittal way to get a bit of fun color without the long-term commitment.
I immediately went home to try it out! I was so excited to see the results. The product claims to give your hair a temporary tone that lasts 1-3 washes. And it says it works best on pre-lightened/highlighted or blonde hair.
I washed my hair as directed (just shampoo) and towel tried it profusely. The less wet your hair is the more color it will absorb. I sprayed my hair generously with the product a couple of times and then massaged it in. Then I let it sit on my hair for at least 2 minutes, as recommended. Actually, it was probably more like five.
After rinsing the product off (yes, it instructs you to do that), I dried my hair. I should clarify here… my hair is colored, I mean, hello greys. 🙄 But it is definitely not blonde, more of a light brown shade. And when I color/highlight without bleach it tends to take on a red hue.
Anyway, back to my experiment. After blow drying I definitely noticed some color differences on my hair. Was it as noticeable or drastic as I had hoped? Meh. Not so much. In fact, I was a bit disappointed by the results. 😔 Like I said, I could see it but NOT. ONE. SINGLE. person I saw over the weekend said anything. Sigh. In fact, it wasn’t as much of a rose gold color as it was just more of an accented reddish tone. It was beautiful and something I liked but it was much more subtle than I expected. You can see a slight rose color on my ends in the pictures below. HOWEVER, if you have lighter hair or blond highlights then this product will definitely work for you. The areas where my hair is lightest are the areas that were most noticeable.
It’s now been two days and I’m pleasantly surprised that the color has not faded. I haven’t washed it yet (I’ll do that tomorrow) so that will be the true test. I’m going to try the process again next week and experiment with the application to see if I can get more bold results. Maybe if my hair is just slightly damp it might absorb into my hair better. I mean, I do have the rest of the can left so I can’t let it go to waste. I’ll keep you posted on my results.
Have you tried this product out? I’d love to hear or see your results in the comments below.
