A week ago I received my first complimentary VoxBox from Influenster. I was so excited!! It’s the little things in life. Inside my complimentary box was a full-size FitMe! Dewy + Smooth Foundation and Master Prime Hydrate + Smooth from Maybelline. Since I was nearly out of my regular foundations, which I blogged about here, I was pretty pumped to get these in the mail and test them out.
Without further ado, here is my official review of these products. But first, full disclosure – I did receive these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes, but the opinions in this post are my own and 100% honest.
I tested out the Nude Beige color which is a perfect match for my skin. Following my morning routine (wash, tone, and moisturize), I put the Master Prime on with my hands. To apply the foundation I use this brush from Sonia Kashuk. For $9 it’s a steal!
This is not your mother’s foundation! I’m so impressed with the new and improved formulas being released these days. This one hits the mark. It’s light and fresh. It doesn’t settle into my pores or fine lines and wears really well throughout the day, especially when paired with the Master Prime. I have aging, combination skin with occasional breakouts and have found this is a perfect product for my skin. It is hydrating and gives me the perfect amount of dewiness that I like to make my skin look and feel younger. It gives my skin a luminosity/light from within glow that I just haven’t found with other foundations. In other words, it has just enough hydration to keep my skin fresh throughout the day without looking like an oil slick by the end. The picture above features me wearing the primer + foundation.
I’m not one to usually wear primer but since I received this complimentary from Influenster I decided to try it. And I’ve been pleasantly surprised! It has definitely helped my foundation stay on longer and creates a smooth canvas for my makeup. I would definitely recommend this to friends and probably purchase again for myself. Master Prime actually comes in three other formulas – Blur + Smooth, Blur + Illuminate, Blur + Redness Control – the one I tried, Hydrate + Smooth, is their newest.
The one thing I didn’t love is the method of dispensing the foundation. Because it is an open top, I have to stick my finger in the product and I feel like it is a bit unsanitary. I think I’d prefer it better if there was a pump at the top. But I know that if there was a pump instead it would be hard to get all the product out. Ce la vie!
I really like the foundation and am pleasantly surprised by how well it wears during the day. Like I said, this is not your mother’s foundation! If you are looking for a new foundation that doesn’t break the budget I encouraged you to give this a try. I will continue to use the primer while it lasts. I’m not sure if I’ll it repurchase in the future. Not because I don’t like it but because I’m a busy mom and I like to keep my routine to a minimum. However, if it continues to prove worthwhile to my routine then I may have to reevaluate. LOL. Clearly I’m uncertain about it. I’ll keep you posted.
